Life Story for Steven Failla

Steven Mark Failla was born on October 14, 1957 in Omaha, Nebraska to Victor and Virginia (Skillman) Failla. He grew up in Omaha where he attended Boyd grade school and graduated from Omaha Northwest High School in 1975. Steve went on to attend UNO and Metro Community college, receiving his Associate Degree in Architecture. As a young boy, Steve loved the outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, boating, skiing and everything nature. He was also involved in Pigeon racing and building mini bikes during his youth.

Steve has lived in Omaha, Bennington and Valley. He worked for the Nebraska Forestry Service before beginning a construction career that included his own businesses, Steve Failla Custom Homes and Outdoor Living Company. Steve was a smart, hardworking man with a passion for his endeavors and a great sense of humor. He was a good listener, played guitar and sang karaoke. He continued his love of the outdoors and loved to collect almost all things nature. Steve enjoyed country music, bird watching, Husker football and LaCasa Pizza. He could often be heard saying “Never seen anything like it in my life."

Steve passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Hospice House in Omaha. He was preceded in death by his parents Vic and Virginia and his infant daughter Kelli Christine Failla. Steve is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Jacob and Katie and Justin and Jessica all of Omaha; granddaughter Amelia; brother Dan Failla of Valley; sisters and brothers-in-law Vickie and Kim Coonrod and Roxann and Bob Haley all of Omaha
