Life Story for Dennis Jack Wilson
Dennis Jack Wilson was born on October 24, 1950 in Omaha, Nebraska to Jack and Ruth (Aronson) Wilson; he grew up in Omaha where he attended Springville elementary school and Nathan Hale Jr. High. He graduated from Omaha Benson High School in 1969 before attending UNO. As a young boy, Dennis played the coronet and french horn in the high school band, loved cars, was active in scouting and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 1965. In addition, achieved the highest possible rank in the Order of the Arrow and especially enjoyed Boy Scout camps.
Dennis married Julie Ann Walter on November 5, 1977 at the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Omaha and they were blessed with a daughter, Katherine Elaine. Dennis and Julie made their home in Valley, Nebraska.
Dennis worked in phone sales for US West, Airtouch, Verizon and Phones Plus before working at Marriott International as a Guest Experience Supervisor. He enjoyed boating, living on the lake and playing and living on the golf course. Dennis was a loyal, generous, humble and very gracious man. His greatest pleasures revolved around family and their special events and activities. Dennis enjoyed 60’s music, was an avid Husker fan, savored a good steak, a good Kessler’s and water and dinner out at Charlie’s on the Lake, which he affectionately referred to as “Chuck on the Pond”. Dennis had a nickname for everyone and almost everything and he took great pleasure in sharing his creative wordsmithing.
Dennis passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Montclair Nursing Home in Omaha, Nebraska with his family by his side at the age of 67 years, 3 months and 16 days. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Ruth and wife Julie. Dennis is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Katie and James Sons of Omaha; grandchildren Haley and Christian; sisters and brothers-in-law Denise and Roger Johnson of Garland, Texas and Diana and Richard Leonardo of Los Lunas, NM, and numerous nieces and nephews.
